National Route 219 is divided into the Old G219 and the New G219. The Old G219, also known as the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, stretches 2,140 kilometers from Yecheng in Xinjiang to Lazi County in Shigatse, Tibet. It intersects with National Route 318 at this point and is also referred to as the Ye-La Highway. In 2013, the G219 was extended to connect Kanas in Xinjiang with Dongxing in Guangxi, covering a total distance of 10,065 kilometers. This extension, known as the New G219, is the longest national highway in China.
The New G219 is recognized as China’s longest and most scenically diverse world-class scenic highway. It is the highest-altitude road in the world and serves as a crucial artery connecting China’s western border to the maritime Silk Road. This route covers nearly half of China’s border, traverses various ethnic cultural regions, and passes five peaks over 8,000 meters, 16 glaciers, and 44 ice rivers. It spans diverse landscapes including snow-capped mountains, grasslands, deserts, gobi deserts, lakes, canyons, plateaus, tropical rainforests, and coastlines. The G219 offers a continuous display of stunning natural scenery, blending beauty and grandeur with rich cultural and historical contexts. The final 500 kilometers lead to the Beibu Gulf.
The Beibu Gulf, located in the northwest of the South China Sea, is the most convenient maritime gateway in southwest China. It is bordered to the east by Guangdong’s Leizhou Peninsula and Hainan Island, to the north by Guangxi, and to the west by Vietnam. Surrounded by land from China and Hainan Island, the Beibu Gulf covers an area of approximately 128,000 square kilometers, making it a beautiful and prosperous bay in the northwest South China Sea.

Located on the southwestern border between Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vietnam, the pristine Guichun River flows through the area, remaining crystal clear and verdant year-round. This river, often likened to a mountain girl in its purity, eventually cascades at the small border town of Shuolong. Here, its quiet power bursts forth, breaking through rocky gorges and dense forests, forming a spectacular sight: the Detian Waterfall, the fourth largest transnational waterfall in the world and the largest in Asia.
One of China’s top ten famous passes, the Friendship Pass features impressive fortifications. The left side of the gate is flanked by the Zuobei Mountain wall, while the right is guarded by the Youfu Mountain wall, creating a grand and imposing sight. Preserved from the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was originally named Yongji Pass during the Han Dynasty and is also known as Da Nan Pass and Jieshou Pass.
Situated at the confluence of the Beilun River and Vietnam’s Go Long River, Dongxing Port is just 100 meters from Vietnam’s Mang Cai Port. It is the only class-one port in China directly connected to Vietnam by both land and sea.
The Jing people, originally known as “Yue people” and historically referred to as “Jing people,” were officially designated as the Jing ethnic group in 1958. The Jing are a major ethnic group in Vietnam, and the Jing people of the Three Islands migrated from Tushan, Vietnam, between the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
Every day from early morning until afternoon, you can often see Jing fishermen using vast nets stretching for kilometers to catch fish.
Bai Lang Beach is a 4A-level tourist attraction located on the southeastern part of Jiangshan Peninsula in Fangchenggang City. Stretching 5.5 kilometers with a maximum width of 2.8 kilometers, the beach is known for its gentle slopes and the striking white waves it generates. The sand, rich in titanium minerals, appears white with a black tint. The titanium sand bath is a simple and effective natural method for skin whitening. Digging a pit in the sand and burying oneself allows the sweat and acidic substances from the body to catalyze the reaction between titanium and oxygen, resulting in smoother skin similar to applying a moisturizing cream.
