Driving through China: Nepal – China – Kyrgyzstan Road Trip by Car

01.Day: Gyirong border – Gyirong town

The guide will wait for you at the china side of the border. Procedures for people and Today can’t stay in car or camping.

02.Day: Gyirong town – Gyirong

Some people may have altitude sickness today, it’s normal. Drink more water, pee more. Walk slowly, don’t jump!

03.Day: Gyirong – Shigastse (560km, 3836m)

Finally we arrive a Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. There are fancy hotel with and good restaurant.

04.Day: Shigatse

Get your temporary Chinese driving licence and number plate in transportation office.

05.Day: Shigatse

Visit opportunity: Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Pelkor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa (100-Thousand-BPagoda).

06.Day: Shigatse – saga (450km,4504m)

07.Day: saga – Darchen (450km, 4588m)

08.Day: Darchen – Drirapuk (7km, 4900m)

08 kms Drive to Yam Dwar. Start Parikrama to Derapukh (5056m) – 12 kms / 6 hours trek. The night will be too cold below zero degree temperature so we will have quick and light dinner (Khichdi, soup etc) and rest in bed.

09.Day: Drirapuk-Dzutrpuk (Trekking 22km)

Derapukh to Zuthulpukh (4790m) 22 kms trek/10 hours via Dolma-La Pass (5630m.) Stay will be in dormitory style. We will take dinner at earliest it prepared and go to warm bed.

10.Day: Dzutripuk-Darchen – Tsadapuri (Trekking 7km)

On the third day of Kora you will trek 7 km to Zongto, from where You can take the bus to Darchen. Along the Kora you can see many mani stones. We will finish the trek around noon and take a rest in guest house.
Then we drive to Tsadapuri Hot Springs, where we visit the Tsadapuri, a local pilgrimage place for Tibetans who visit the Kailash-Kora. Next to the lake Manasarovar and the Mount Kailash, Tirthapuri is the most important pilgrimage site of West Tibet, for here is the meditation cave Padmasambhava and his companion Yeshe Tsogyel. The place is also known for its hot springs. Then you can enjoy the hot springs and spend the night in the nearby village Menshi.

Finish kailash kora – Darchen – Tsadapuri

13.Day: Tirthapuri – Tsada/Zanda (3900m)

Tsada is a relatively big village 8 km North of Paphos city center. Although the proximity between them, the 600 m elevation difference gives to the Tsada area a totally different identity.

14.Day: Tsada

Visit opportunity: trip to Ruins of Guge Kingdom and Tholing Monastery

15.Day: Tsada – Shiquanhe (290km, 4300m)

Drive to Shiquanhe (4300 m), capital of Ngari district with only 20-year history behind. On the way admiring the Tsada earth forest, you walk in the secluded valley of Tsada-Erdwald, you feel like walk in the ruins of a huge old city. It is a wild and imposing Picture, as far as the eye can see.

16.Day: Shiquanhe – Shiquanhe pass(4758M) – Rutog/Ritu County(4250M) – Bagong Tso See(4240M) – Domar(5200M) (280km)

Drive to Domar, to Ngari district of Tibet. On such a high pass one could suffer from serious illness. On the way hike on Bangong Tso Lake. In the middle of the lake there is a bird island, in summer, Many gulls from the Mediterranean come here. Fantastic is, in the same Bangong Tso, fresh water is in the Tibetan part, but salt water is in the part of Kashmir.

17.Day: Domaz Town (5200M) – Songxi Pass (5248) – Redhill Pass (5380) – Jieshan Pass (5347) – Sirengou (Quanshuigou 5140) – Qitai Pass (5200) -Da Hongliutan (4230) (360km)

Have chance to see the K2 in Mazar from far away. Climb up Mazar mountain today!

18.Day: Hongliutan(4230M) – Kangxiwa Pass(4350) – Sanshili Ying(3700) -Heikazi Pass(4930) – Mazar Pass(4950) – Kudi(2950) (330km)

Via the Heikazi Pass you arrive in Mazar, in the Karakorum area. On The Mazar Pass has beautiful views over the summit of Qogir. Also on the Heikazi Pass you can admire the magnificent view from the Qogir mountain.

19.Day: Kudi(2950) – Kudi Pass(3250) – Yecheng (1480) – Kashgar (420km)

Crossing Kudi Pass you reach the town of Yecheng. The route over the Kudi Pass is the hardest on the trip, you drive on mountain road in the form of “S”. Yecheng is an important station for climbing the 8611 m mountain Qogir. From Yecheng you walk for 6 days to the 3924 m base camp. Continue through Gobi to Kashgar.

20.Day: Kashgar

Visit opportunity opportunity: local Market , the Mosquee Idkar, Abakh Hodja Tomb etc.

21.Day: Exit to Kyrgyzstan
