Itinerary

Day 0:

Gather 1 day in advance at Laos/China border Boten Town.

Day 1: Mohan – Mengla, 50km

Enter China in the early morning. China Customs starts work at 8:30 Beijing time and they take a lunch break from 12:00 noon to 14:30.

The tour guide will wait in the China Immigration Hall and assist in customs and border inspection procedures. Drive to mengla for vehicle and driver formalities after dinner.

Day 2: Mengla – Pu’er, 280km

Obtain Chinese temporary number plate and temporary driver’s license, let’s hit the road.

Day 3: Pu’er – Dali, 470km

Visit opportunity: Tea Mountain in Pu’er

Day 4: Dali

Rest and visit: Dali Ancient Town, dali 3 pagodas, Xizhou ancient town

Day 5: Dali – Tiger Leaping Gorge, 220km

Visit opportunity: Tiger leaping gorge

Day 6: Tiger Leaping Gorge – shangri-la, 110km, 3130m

visit opportunity: The Ganden Sumtsenling Monastery, Shangri-La Dukezong Ancient City

Day 7: Shangri-La – Deqin county(Deqen), 180km, 3300m

Visit opportunity: Giant Panda & take a rest.

Day 8: Deqen – Mangkang, 220km, 3880m

Today we enter Tibet. Mangkang is the east gate of Tibet. The name Mangkang means “good and wonderful land” in Tibetan. Yanjing is famous for producing well salt. There is the ancient salt field of well salt in Mangkang County, and there is the only Catholic church in the Tibet Autonomous Region—Yanjing Catholic Church, founded by French missionaries.

Day 9: Mangkang – Zogang County – Baxoi County, 360km, 3260m

Today’s riding time is relatively long(8-9 hours), and there are many mountain roads, all of which are asphalt roads.

Day 10: Baxio – Bomi – Nyingchi, 450km, 3100m

Ride along the Parlung Tsangpo River to Nyingchi. Because of its relatively low altitude, rich vegetation and beautiful scenery, it is known as “Switzerland of Tibet“. Nyingchi has Lulang forest, Namjagbarwa Peak and many other must-see “check-in” spots for tourists going to Tibet. It will be 8-9 hours riding today.

Day 11: Nyingchi – Lhasa, 390km, 4.5 hours riding, 3656m

Today’s road conditions are very good, two-way 4-lane first-class highway.

Day 12: Lhasa, 3656m

Rest and visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street

Day 13: Lhasa, 3656m

Rest and visit Dadong Village and Sera Monastery

Day 14: Lhasa- Gyantse – Shigatse, 360 km, 3900m

visit opportunities: Yamdrok-tso Lake (4400m), Far view of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar(7191m), Korola Glacier, Pelkor Monastery, Gyantse Kumbum, enjoy the Far view of Gyangtse Fortress.

Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. In Shigatse, you can visit traditional Barley Mill and view the landscape of Barley Field (in summer).

Day 15: Shigatse (3900m) – Everest Base Camp(5200m) – Basong Village(4270m)

Visit the home of Panchan Lama – Tashilunpo Monastery, Pass Tsola Pass(4600m) and Gyatsola Pass(5248m), enjoy panorama of Himalaya at Gawula Pass, Everest Base Camp(5200m) Sunset, then drive 40 minutes to Basong Village(4270m) for overnight.

Day 16: Basong Village – Saga County, 350km, 6 hours, 4513m

Today we ride to Saga County, it means “lovely place” in Tibetan. Saga, in the 14th century AD, the Pazhu regime established the “Saga Dunba Dzong” here.

Day 17: Saga – Darchen / Kailash Kora start point (450km, 4588m)

Mount Kailash (Kangrinboqe Peak), is considered sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon. One of the world’s holiest places, Mount Kailash is considered a place of immense spiritual power. Completing the kora at Mt Kailash is believed to earn great karma. Join hundreds of pilgrims on the circuit around this holy mountain.

Day 18: Darchen – Rutog County, 370km, 5.5 hours, 4250km

Rutog county, the branches of the Karakoram Mountains and the Gangdise Mountains cross the whole county, and it’s called “the roof of the roof of the world”.

Day 19: Rutog – Da hong liu tan, 460km, 4230m

Domaz Town (5200m) – Songxi Pass (5248m) – Redhill Pass (5380) – Jieshan Pass (5347m) – Sirengou (Quanshuigou 5140m) – Qitai Pass (5200m) -Da Hongliutan (4230m)

Day 20: Da hong liu tan – Kudi, 320km, 2950m

Hongliutan(4230m) – Kangxiwa Pass(4350m) – Sanshili Ying(3700m) -Heikazi Pass(4930m) – Mazar Pass(4950m) – Kudi(2950m)

Via the Heikazi Pass you arrive in Mazar in the Karakorum area. On The Mazar Pass has beautiful views over the summit of Qogir. Also on the Heikazi Pass you can admire the magnificent view from the Qogir mountain.

Day 21: Kudi(2950m) – Kudi Pass(3250m) – Yecheng (1480m) – Kashgar (420km)

Crossing Kudi Pass you reach the town of Yecheng. The route over the Kudi Pass is the hardest on the trip, you drive on mountain road in the form of “S”. Yecheng is an important station for climbing the 8611 m mountain Qogir. From Yecheng you walk for 6 days to the 3924 m base camp. Continue through Gobi to Kashgar. There will be police car escort from Yecheng, the police car will accompany the team to Kashgar. It will be a long day.

Day 22: Kashgar

Day 23 Kashgar – Torugart Port or Irkeshtam Port – Kyrgyzstan

We leave early, go through several checkpoints, arrive at the border and complete exit procedures. Goodbye China, hello Kyrgyzstan.
