Itinerary

Day 1 Mohan – Mengla, 57km
Leave Laos in the early morning, customs clearance in Laos may require queuing. Enter China from Mohan port, finish all the customs paper at border.

Heading to Mengla traffic police station after lunch (40mins driving)
Get your temporary driving licence and temporary number plate, continue driving to Pu’er if we still have time.

Day 2 Mengla – Ning’er, 270km, 4 hours

We might as well finish the driver and vehicle procedures by noon today.

Day 3 Ning’er – Dali Ancient City, 410km, 6-7 hours
Things to do: Dali ancient town, Xizhou ancient town, Erhai Lake, The Three Pagodas

Day 4 Dali
Things to do: Dali ancient town, Xizhou ancient town, Erhai Lake, The Three Pagodas, Shaxi Town

Day 5 Dali – Old Town of Lijiang, 210km
Drive to UNESCO World Heritage town: Lijiang.
Things t do: Old Town of Lijiang, Black Dragon Pond Park, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang Impression Show

Day 6 Lijiang – Tiger leaping Gorge, 84km
Visit first bend of Yangtze river on the way, and upper & middle Tiger Leaping Gorge. Tiger Leaping Gorge is one of the deepest and most spectacular river canyons in the world. Well worth spending half a day visiting and hiking here.

Day 7 Tiger Leaping Gorge – Shangri-La, 110km
Drive to Shangri-La and Visit Duzongke ancient town and Ganden Stumtseling Monastery.

Day 8 Shangri-La – Litang, 420km

Day 9 Litang – Tagong – Xinduqiao, 200km
The Litang Chode Monastery, Former Residence of the 7th Dalai Lama

Day 10 Xinduqiao – Leshan, 350km
